The tale of two Saturns
With two of them now, it is great. I buy the same parts for both when I do maintenance on them. Parts are cheap, insurance is cheap, maintenance is cheap, …more importantly gas is cheap. They both get 43+ MPG on the highway, and we’re…
Saturn intake manifold gasket replacement
The SL1 was having problems with low idle, so I did the test of spraying carb cleaner near the intake manifold gasket in order to see if there was a leak. If there is a leak, the carb cleaner will be sucked into the intake…
Next step is the roof – A-Frames are up
Moving along at a good pace if you ask me… A-Frames are on the roof.
Done the first floor, onto the second
They have completed the framing on the first floor, now they’ve began framing the second floor.
New house update – almost done the first floor
They did plenty of work since the we drove by last time. A good part of the first floor has been done. Take a look:
Mac OS X Leopard’s little dirty secret
I thought this was hilarious. When you use coverflow to browse network computers, ….look how Mac OS 10.5.x shows PC servers….. ….a really crappy monitor with the windows “Blue Screen of Death”. LOL. Too funny…
Another brake job for the books – Saturn SW front brakes
Our wagon has been making some squealing noises from the brakes – especially when you apply them. It sounded like it was coming from the back. So, I changed the rear drums and shoes a couple of weeks ago, only to find out that the…
Bought another 1999 Saturn
Well, after a lot of hard thinking, we traded the HHR in so we would have less monthly payments per month – mostly due to the fact that we are taking on larger mortgage payments. So I traded the HHR in and bought a 1999…
The framing has started
They started to frame the lower level. There was a little beagle walking around; carrying a bone of course. He decided to dig near the foundation in the garage area, and stash it for later. Maybe a good omen? He better get it soon before…
Foundation is complete, back filled with gravel
The foundation appears to be done, the weeping tile was fully installed and everything around the foundation was covered in with gravel. Looks good.
Foundation is complete
They removed the moulds, and the foundation has set. They even started tar-spraying the exterior walls, along with laying the weeping tile.
Foundation moulds are ready for concrete
They got all the moulds in place, and they are ready to start “concreting” tomorrow…
Two doves in the backyard
Been a while since I took my Canon XTi Digital SLR out for some photos. There were two doves sitting on our back fence – I couldn’t resist snapping off a few.
Another house update – footings have been completed
Swung by again today, and the they completed pouring the concrete in the footings. Take a look.
More updates on the new house
They poured a small amount of concrete for one of the footings, and the molds for the foundation arrived – they are the pieces of sheet metal in the large baskets.
House update – foundation
I stopped by the house, and they have laid the wood mouldings for the foundation. No concrete yet, but I imagine that will probably begin next week.
New house update – pictures
I’ll be popping by the house pretty much every other day now, and I’ll be bringing my camera with me. Here are some pictures of the hole that we’ve deemed the “pit”. They’ve started the footing moulds for the house next to ours, so I’m…
New house update – they broke ground
Drove past the house today, and they just broke the ground over the weekend. Looks like they are preparing to pour the concrete for the footings of the house. Kind of a nice birthday present. :)
Happy Birthday to me!
The big 29 today. Going out for dinner tonight. Should be fun.
Poor bird
Since the weather has been getting better and the snow is melting, all the junk that was frozen over the winter is starting to surface…. …I found a dead bird beside our deck :( Way back in November 2007, we were watching TV downstairs when…
Upgrading the HHR steering wheel – the radio control modification
My model of HHR, the LS model, did not have the option of buttons on the steering wheel for radio control. By buttons, I mean the volume + previous/next controls. My HHR does have the upgraded sound system that the LT model has, but since…
