Thanks to some comments on the blog, and Pennock’s Fiero Forum, that unknown part is a blower, and it is used to cool down the electrical system on the Fiero.
Since I never had one on mine, I’m keeping this for sure. Just needs a good cleaning and fresh coat of black and silver paint.
