In an effort to save money (because buying lunches everyday can get VERY expensive) I am really picky about making something for lunch at work. Think of it, … average of $7 a day, 5 days a week = $35. $35 x 4 weeks is $140 a month! Most weeks I treat myself to one day of lunch out somewhere with my work colleagues. Mostly falafel, for around the $6 range – not too expensive at all. Figured it is a reward for not spending money.
But lately I’ve been going 5 days a week with a homemade lunch – which is good :) I tend to make a healthy choice, and go with a nice romaine lettuce salad and a pita wrap (see pic below). I can usually make 5 lunches (big enough to stop the 3 p.m. hunger craze) or one week for around $13 – romaine salad, onion, couple of peppers, and pre-made pita wraps. Most of the time that $13 is absorbed into the grocery budget.
I don’t know, …am I crazy? I see a lot of people buying lunches everyday – waste of money in my opinion. What do you think?
